Finished projects...

Happy Easter to everyone who celebrates the holiday!  I hope you are all enjoying your weekend.

I am happy to say I have finished the chevron quilt and it has gone to its new home with a friend who is having a little boy soon.  She absolutely loved it which made me very happy.  She had even bought a cupboard for his room on the week which is the same colour as the bottom chevron (pale blue).  You can see more information on the fabrics used here.

For the back I used this green chevron in a flannel.  It is very soft and cuddly. I really love the grey/white spot fabric.  I am going to have to try and source more of it.

I also made a few more bibs, this time in little girl colours.  These were an order for a friend.  I really enjoy making these with random piecing depending on what scraps I have.  You can find the pattern at JCasa patterns.

So many pics...

This week is full of photos again.  First we have the latest blocks from Amy Gibson's 2012 BOM which you can find at Craftsy.  You can see the another 6 blocks here.

String Block

Broken Spider Web Block

Modern Log Cabin Block

Wonky 5 Sided Log Cabin Block

Hexi Stripe

Sunny with a Chance of Hex Block

I also worked on another 2 blocks from the Marti Michell BOM that I'm doing at Sew This & That shop.  One block down and the other is still waiting to be pieced together.

Thankfully I had one (or 3) finishes.  I found out a couple of days ago that one of my friends is expecting a little boy so I decided to sift through my scraps and put together these cute bibs.  I used the JCasa pattern which you can find on etsy.

WIP Wednesday

Well it has been another busy week in the sewing room.  I am getting through some of the projects I've got laying around which is nice.

I started a Chevron quilt quite a few months ago.  I made all the HSTs which you can see here but that was as far as I got.  The other day I was forced to try HSTs again in Amy Gibson's 2012 BOM from Craftsy.  After watching her video and giving it a try, it really wasn't as hard as I remember.  So it got me thinking about the Chevron quilt again and all those HSTs sitting in the box.  I grabbed the box and within 4 hours I had this...

In order from top to bottom the colours are Kona Orange, Corn Yellow, Citrus, Sour Apple, Fern, Jade Green and Bahama Blue.

I was happy with the way my seams all came together as well.  They aren't perfect but good enough that I'm happy with them (which I tell myself is the main thing).

My other work in progress that got some attention this week was the 2012 BOM from Craftsy.  I am really enjoying these blocks.  You can see 2 other blocks here which are also from Joel Dewberry's Notting Hill collection.

Firstly February's BOMs

 Balkan Puzzle

Chunky Chevron

I then jumped to June so I could create some extra scraps and then I'll go back to March.

Octagon

Greek Cross

And lastly here are the 6 blocks all together.

And for one last project I started this Lazy Suzy Throw at my sewing class with Sew This & That.  We used a Charm Pack and Jelly Roll to make these easy blocks.  I've used Posy by Aneela Hoey.

In 2 weeks we'll be back at sewing class to do the borders for this front.

Sorry for all the photos this week but there was a lot happening.

New projects...

Well I have kept busy this week with a few new projects, some still in progress and one finished.

As you may remember I have been making hexagons for a cushion cover which is coming together very slowly.  I wanted two pillows for the bed which will go with my Birds & Bees Quilt, so I decided to use the same fabrics and create this simple square block.  I am going to quilt this before making the cushion so it has some texture and feels that bit stronger.

I got this beautiful bundle of Joel Dewberry's Notting Hill that I got Sew Love Fabrics which I have been itching to cut into.

I really love this collection.  Here are a few of my favourites.

The second project I started had me cutting into these beautiful fabrics.  I signed up for Amy Gibson's Craftsy BOM 2012.  Yes, just a little behind but I liked the blocks used and thought they'd be a good challenge.  The beauty of doing this a year late is that all the BOMs are posted and I can work through them at my own pace.

And the last project, which is the one I got completed, is this Metro Bag from Grand Revival Sewing Patterns.
